Blechnum Nudum - 14cm

Blechnum nudum, the fishbone water fern, is an Australian native fern with upright arching fronds and a strong preference for cool, moist garden conditions. It is particularly useful beside ponds, along creek-style plantings, in shaded native gardens and beneath taller canopy plants where the soil stays consistently damp. The fresh green fronds add height and texture without overwhelming neighbouring shade plants, making it an effective component in layered fern and rainforest-style gardens. Mature clumps can reach around 60cm to 1m high and wide, giving the plant enough presence to act as a repeated structural fern.
